Over the last weeks we have been seeing promotion of several bike brands for their XC models. Although they differ in use, specs and price, they have all something in common: the colour purple.
Offering customization tools in assembling your own, unique bike has become quite common. But some colours are ‘hot’ this moment. Like green, orange, sand and purple. We have seen the following models on social media in the last two weeks:
Cannondale (image on top): “the Habit LTD brings responsive handling, top-tier components, and dialled trail capability in a colour that stands out anywhere.”

Trek Unbroken XC: a prototype XC race fully designed WorldCup riders Evie Richards and Jolanda Neff, featuring a new 115 mm travel rear suspension system with a redesigned “flapper” linkage. Not yet available to the public, more details will follow.

Merida BIG.NINE 10K: a XC hardtail built on Merida’s lightest CF5 carbon frame featuring the latest XTR Di2 drivetrain, an FSA carbon cockpit and the new Reynolds Blacklabel 309 wheels.

New Allied Fitz: a light trail bike, the frame weighs only 2,2 kg without a shock, and complete builds end up in the 11.8 kg range.
Other purple bike models: Specialized Stumpjumper, Canyon Lux Trail, Origine Théorème FS and the Liv Pique Advanced SL. What’s your favourite purple bike?
For your information and on a more personal note: I bought my first Cannondale fully in the late 90’s. And yes, it was purple. History repeats….
