Originally popular in the 2000s for its affordability and reliability, Magura is reviving the LOUISE in 2025.
The new Louise Elite braking system is aimed at trail and enduro riders who need more braking power at an excellent price-performance ratio. For sufficient stopping power, the Louise uses a one-piece four-piston caliper combined with a Carbotecture brake lever.
The Louise is positioned below the Gustav when it comes to braking performance. According to Magura the Louise Elite falls in the category ‘heavy duty brakes’ and the Gustav in ‘extreme duty brakes’. As usual, Magura relies on a brake lever made of Carbotecture material. This hides an enlarged piston that should optimize the pressure point. The applied oil volume has increased as well so braking force would be more consistent.
The one-piece forged four-piston aluminum caliper is based on the Magura MT5, but has been completely redesigned. In contrast to the brake lever, the piston diameter of the caliper remained the same. However, the mechanical transmission is modified, which would give it more power in braking.
The Magura Easy Link technology makes brake installation not only easier and cleaner but also faster. Just plug it in. And in combination with Magura’s Shiftmix AG adapters, to connect brakes with shifters, your cockpit will maintain a clean look.
The Louise Elite can be equipped with a bleed valve on the brake caliper . This facilitates handling in case of service. As for the brake fluid, Magura relies on mineral oil. Magura provides a 5-year defect warranty.
