The jury of the Design and Innovation Awards was clear, the S-Works Aethos 2 is a modern classic with a timeless design. A lightweight and versatile performance road bike.

Specialized engineered the Aethos 2 according to their Flow State Design, when form is a result of scientific processes. Flow State refers to the moment that bike and rider are in a state of movement. The frame responds to the performance of the rider. By monitoring this response, Specialized managed to leave out material where it is less needed.

The result, a frame weighing 595 grams and a total weight of the Aethos 2 of less than 6 kg. Not allowed by the UCI but certainly good news for performance-oriented riders.

Famous for its Body Geometry policy, Specialized increased both stack and reach to offer more comfort. The frame offers clearance to fit tyres up to 35 mm which adds to a comfortable ride.

Specialized designed new wheels and handlebar especially for the Aethos 2 model. The new Roval Alpinist wheels are light (1.131 grams) and strong. The Alpinist II cockpit is ergonomically formed, offers fully integrated cabling and weighs only 270 grams.

All this, the design and innovative technology, has now been awarded by an independent jury. Well recognized! Who cares about the UCI?
