Most distinctive feature of the new Scribe Ultra Range wheels is the wavy spoke profile. Scribe says this profile makes the spokes around 0.5 watts faster than the more usual 5 mm bladed carbon spokes seen on carbon spoked wheels.
The Scribe Elan Ultra range comes in rim heights of 50 and 65 mm, both built with carbon spokes at Scribe’s facility in Belfast. It is a multi-national product using a carbon lay-up with tactical placement of T1100 fibres from South Korea, combined with Taiwanese ceramic bearings and Italian-made carbon spokes.
The Ultra wheels are equipped with completely redesigned hubs. These Ultra hubs are engineered from scratch for the aero carbon spokes. It holds a double-disc ratchet drive hub system and comes with high precision TPI ceramic (grade 3) bearings.
All tests in the wind-tunnel facilities at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub show that the Ultra wheels are amongst the most competitive wheels on the market. Scribe claims these to be the new benchmark in aero wheels, referring to all the test data for the Ultra Elan 6 wheels, available on their website.
