The new rim design has been aerodynamically improved resulting in a 10% reduction in average watts/hour.  And by using advanced carbon technologies, Industry Nine managed to get the weight down with 5%.

As with all R series road rims, the shape of the rim causes a so-called rudder effect. The design helps the wheel auto-straighten in windy conditions. Keeping your ride stable and aligned.
