To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Stoll decided to create the next level of mountain biking, the P32. Featuring the latest wheel size, 32”. To ride faster than ever before.
Why 32”? According to Stoll, test results show that rolling resistance is noticeably lower while traction increased both on climbs and descents. And the bigger wheels allow a better integration between rider and bike, which results in an improved total system performance.
As carbon frames and levers get bigger, forces will increase consequently. That’s why Stoll focused on maintain sufficient strength in the carbon fibre lay-up in developing the P32. In fact, they claim that they managed to improve the stiffness to weight ratio despite the longer frame.
First test rides show that lap times improved over and over again. And riders felt less fatigued, thanks to the integrated, almost harmonious fit between rider, frame and wheels. The integrated cable routing, the perfectly matched cockpit, and the option of a storage compartment in the down tube complete the overall package.
The P32 comes in a 100 mm or 120 mm suspension set-up. It comes in four different options varying from SRAM Eagle drivetrain and aluminium wheels (11,7 kg) to the lightest version equipped with SRAM XX SL AXS and Pirope Duke Lucky Jack 32 wheels (10,2 kg). The set-up with a BikeAhead Biturbo RS 32 wheelset, will give the bike a very distinctive look. In all cases the Intend 32″ front suspension is featured.
Prices* vary from CHF 9.500 to CHF 14.000. A frameset will set you back CHF. 5.000. The same amount as the deposit if you want to pre-order the bike. Expect a lead time of 3-4 months.
Time will tell if 32” will be as successful as the current 29”. But Stoll has made a great start to make it happen.
