The third generation Lauf Grit gravel fork offers more tire clearance than ever and even broader shoulders for more stiffness, without any weight increase. Mainly thanks to the use of a lighter material for the dropouts of the fork.
The design of the Lauf Grit 3rd gen is based on eliminating all “moving parts”, and thus friction and maintenance. The monocoque carbon fibre structure delivers incredible strength, and the test fork that Lauf installed in their lab has already been “shocked” over 1 million times without showing any wear.
The springs of the Lauf Grit 3rd generation are made of S2 fiberglass which is both extremely strong on impacts and flexible in the travel direction. The fork has 30mm of travel with a progressive spring rate. This means that the further the fork is compressed, the stiffer the springs become. This construction helps to prevent the fork from bottoming without sacrificing small bump compliance.
The axle to crown on the Grit 3rd gen is slightly longer (419 mm including 6 mm sag) then on most rigid gravel forks, which is necessary to incorporate the 30 mm travel. Combined with the 47 mm rake, the Grit maintains the steering characteristics of a rigid fork with 45 mm rake and a 405 mm distance axle to crown.
The Lauf Grit 3rd gen works flawlessly in all weather conditions and because the travel is fairly short and progressive, no additional damping is needed. That makes the fork a lot easier to maintain.
