With the new EVO series, Hope replaces its successful Tech 4 series and raises its brake range to a new level. The revised models not only offer more power and control, but also improved ergonomics and ease of maintenance.
Whether XC, Trail or Gravity – the new line-up offers the right option for every type of rider. The revised models are the two four-piston brakes V4 EVO (Gravity) and E4 EVO (Trail) as well as the two-piston X2 EVO brakes, specifically for cross-country and marathon use.
At the heart of the new Hope EVO models are three revised brake lever types:
1. Standard: The all-round solution – a good balance of ergonomics, power and adjustability.
2. Power: This variant is aimed at riders who want to position the brake lever further away from the handlebars. The POWER lever can be adjusted 5 mm further outwards than the standard lever – ideal for large hands or wider cockpits. The additional lever length also provides more leverage.
3. Control: This lever is designed for riders who want to ride the brake lever closer to the handlebars. Compared to the standard lever, this variant can be adjusted 5 mm further inwards. Despite the more compact position, the familiar lever feel is retained – this is made possible by the shortened lever length, which biomechanically compensates for the modified lever mechanism.
All levers have a ribbed surface, called a dimple design, which is supposed to ensure a secure grip even in wet conditions. The lever width and pressure point can still be adjusted without tools.
Technical updates:
– Cam mechanics: a new cam designed to decrease the free lever stroke while maintaining the feel and modulation in the braking zone — a key feature of the Tech 4 brakes. The result is a slightly firmer feel at the bite point, followed by a gentle rise in power through the braking zone, further enhancing brake modulation.
– Piston Guide: a second sliding bush now ensures absolutely straight piston running. The result is a particularly smooth lever travel over the entire adjustment range – a clear plus for modulation and durability.
– Bleeding process: the EVO brakes are now easier to bleed. A new vent screw allows the bleeding process without dismantling the reservoir lid. Those who prefer to vent traditionally as before can still do so. The internal layout of the expansion tank has also been revised to prevent the formation of air bubbles during venting. This ensures a much more reliable and uniform bleeding process.
Prices for the new HOPE Disc Brake EVO series range from € 257,50* (X2) till € 301,50* (GR4). Available in various colours.
