The long history of wheel manufacturing at Mavic resulted recently in the new Cosmic 45 SLR. It features a wider carbon rim and includes ceramic bearings to guarantee a smooth and responsive ride.

The rims of the Cosmic are produced according to an adaptive carbon lay-up technology, so it is extra strong on places where it is needed. And instead of being drilled, the lower rim bridge is pushed upon the inside, then threaded to enable the spoke nipples to be directly screwed in it, leaving the upper rim bridge intact. Resulting in a stiffer and stronger rim and a watertight upper rim for easy tubeless tyre fitting.

Wider rims ensure more aerodynamic advantage as the ‘gap’ between tyre and rim is reduced and micro-turbulence can be avoided. This enables a faster ride with less rolling resistance and more comfort as wider tyres can be fitted at a lower tyre pressure.

Ceramic bearings provide a superior performance as ceramic balls are harder, smoother and lighter. And water- and corrosion resistant. On top Mavic uses premium low-density grease and low-friction seals to complete the quality package.
