One of the most personal components on your bike is your saddle. But perhaps it is time to switch brands in the case you are not riding on a Specialized saddle. The new S-Works Power Evo might be the right motivation.
Specialized relies on the ergonomic Body Geometry principles since it’s debut in 1997. Based on these principles, the product developers claim that the new S-Works Power EVO saddle with Mirror technology provides 28.8% less pressure on your sit bones and 34.1% less on the nose of the saddle. The biggest fan of the new saddle is Belgian rider Remco Evenepoel, which says enough about the high standards.
The name ‘Mirror’ refers to the unique and patented honeycomb pattern from which the 3D-printed seat cushion is constructed. The material used is liquid polymer and by printing a saddle in a specific pattern, the density and firmness of certain zones can easily be adjusted. The basis of the saddle is a carbon shell with oval carbon rails.
The S-Works Power EVO saddle with Mirror technology is the second generation of the S-Works Power Mirror saddle and differs from its predecessor in several ways. The length of 24 cm is the same, but the shape has become slightly different. The transition from the nose to the back of the saddle is a little more gradual.
In addition, the nose has become 1 cm wider at the front, good news for competitive riders. The invisible cutout in the middle has become a lot larger, which reduces pressure on the perineum. Finally, the rails are now also 2 cm longer, giving more space for those who want to slide the saddle forward.
The new S-Works Power EVO Mirror saddle comes at a price* of €449 and in four different widths: 130, 143, 155 and 168 mm. In a width of 143 mm, the weight is about 221 grams. Not extremely light, but extremely comfortable.
