The guys at Chris King say that the MTN30 AL would be the best value in the alloy MTB wheel world. It’s built around King’s legendary hubs, known for their reliability, serviceability and the best quality.
With the new MTN30 wheels Chris King’s engineers have opted for an alloy rim with an internal width of 30 mm and a pronounced rim height to better protect the tire’s sidewall. The rim and emblems have a subtle matte finish, so the hub color predominates. These are available in 10 different colors (!) including this year’s new jade color.
This set of wheels is certainly not the lightest on the market but truly shock-resistant and very agile at the same time. They provide the right amount of feedback on the trail, not too damped, not too hard. A ride that feels smooth but also connected to the terrain.
The MTN30 AL is designed for trail and aggressive all-mountain riding. Check out the video below. As with all King products, it is designed and manufactured in the US, and comes in 29”, 27.5” and “mullet” mixed set configurations.
The MTN30 wheelset offers the choice between 10 different hub colors, 3 different driveshell types and stainless steel bearings or ceramic ones (plus $110*). Weight: about 2.133 grams. Price: $ 1.360*
