This is the new Kona Libre CR, developed and built in Vancouver, Canada. According to Kona, the bike this is an all-round but really fast gravel bike. To go the extra mile and beyond. That’s what the name stands for, Libre. Lee-Bray. Not Libra. Not Lieber. Libré, as in freedom.
The new Libre is lighter, tighter, stronger, faster and more responsive. Small, but important changes to the reach (longer), seat angle (steeper), head tube length (shorter) and stack (shorter) create a more aggressive position. Combined with shorter chain stays, these changes should result in a smoother ride as well. Fast but comfortable, they say.
A 27.2 mm diameter seat post replaces the 31.6 mm of the previous generation for more comfort. The six frame sizes with smaller intermediate steps should guarantee the best possible fit for everyone. The standard models of the Libre are equipped with a 1x crank set, but there is still the possibility to mount a 2x.
The maximum tire width for the Libre is 45 mm, which is descent and sufficient for most gravel paths. Fully guided internal cable and hose routing on carbon models keeps things quiet.
