The Ascender has set the name of Jaegher as prestigious manufacturer of stainless-steel bikes. The Belgium based company is known for its high-quality bicycles, collaborating with famous riders like Tom Boonen and Tim Merlier. The use of steel as frame material is not an alternative, it’s Jaegher’s first choice.
The Ascender is built with Columbus XCr tubes and TIG-welded by hand. It is the result of an extensive process between Jaegher and the client. The geometry is designed from scratch, based on a bike fitting at the atelier in Gent. No stock sizes. Pure bespoke.
Columbus XCr is a stainless-steel alloy with chromium, nickel and molybdenum, with a wall thickness of 0.3 mm. It doesn’t corrode or fatigue as aluminium does. Built to last decades. The road frame offers a tyre clearance up to 40 mm, so comfort is ensured. Cables are integrated and UDH dropout is included.
After setting the right geometry, it is up to the rider to select the finish he/she wants. Again, the sky is the limit with over 250 possible colour combinations. Check out the “inspiration” section on the Jaegher website for a wide variety of chosen options.
There are no standard builds. You can assemble the bike according to your wishes, considering the purpose of use. On the website, you’ll find two examples of complete build kits, but all is configurable. The “Essentials” kit contains a Rival or 105 Di2 drivetrain, Scope S-series wheels and Deda components. It comes at a price of € 9.950. The Ascender “Premium” build kit is assembled with a Force AXS or Ultegra Di2 drivetrain, Scope R-series wheels and Beast components. Price: € 11.450.
The Ascender frameset starts at € 6.490. For you to complete with the components you prefer. Like the Chris King, ENVE and SRAM Red combination on this page.
Main bottom line, this bike fits you like a glove. Or in the words of Tom Boonen: “Never before had I sat on a road bike that felt so perfect from the first pedal stroke.” And as 4x Paris-Roubaix, 3x Tour of Flanders and World Championship 2005 winner, he should know.
