The Uno group set is being relaunched as an electronic and wireless version. Rotor presents the new Uno with shifting precision, speed and modularity as usp’s. You can use the group for 10, 11, 12 or 13-speed setups.
The wireless rear derailleur forms the heart of the new Rotor Uno. It houses a battery with a capacity of 600 milliamps, sufficient for about 15,000 shifts. The battery is not detachable so you need to charge it via a magnetic plug on the back of the derailleur. Mounting is done on a standard derailleur hanger.
The shifting itself takes place in 150 milliseconds per step. The derailleur is made from a combination of aluminium and reinforced nylon. The aluminium cage comes in two lengths for specifically gravel and mtb. The derailleur is connected to the switch(es) via Bluetooth. The Uno app controls settings and firmware updates.
The mountainbike derailleur has a cage of 93 millimetres long which allows shifting up to 52 teeth. Rotor does not supply a matching cassette so you need to combine it with those from other suppliers (10-13 speed). Shifting is done via two buttons, similar to SRAM’s Pod Controller. However, ‘touch’ fields of the Uno controllers are a bit larger.
For the time being, the entire mountain bike group only contains shifter and the rear derailleur. Rotor deliberately chooses not to supply MTB brakes, so that consumers have a free choice. The derailleur and switch together weigh 453 grams, a few grams lighter than a SRAM Transmission XX SL Eagle derailleur and Pod controller (461 grams) or Shimano XTR Wireless Di2 (524 grams).
