Wilier recently revealed the new Rave SLR, a new race-first-gravel platform for serious gravel competitions, stepping away from the hybrid road/gravel use of the original Rave SLR.
The frame has been redesigned according to new aerodynamics standards. The tapered down tube shields bottles from wind drag, while fork legs are copied from Wilier’s time trial bike with wide aero profiles. The front end of the bike is aerodynamically optimized with monocoque handlebars housing the brake and controls cables, routing them inside the frame.
Wiliers claims to have improved aerodynamic performance of the new Rave SLR by 9 procent versus its predecessor. However, a slightly higher stack and a somewhat shorter reach compared to a pure competition bike, combined with the carbon monocoque handlebars with a flare of 30 mm, delivers the right combination of high performance and comfort.
By adding carbon reinforcement sheets on places that matter, Wilier managed to increase the lateral stiffness at the bottom bracket with almost 12 percent. This will deliver great acceleration values even with the use of tires up to 42 mm wide.
The Wilier Rave SLR ID2 is 1x-only and the UDH is only compatible with a SRAM derailleur. The bike is available in various colours, matching SRAM’s RED XPLR AXS (13-speed, 10-46t). The Rave SLR comes with Miche Carbo Graff EVO42 wheels.
Price*: €10,200 (RED XPLR AXS 1x13s), € 8.200 ( FORCE XPLR AXS D2 1x12s), € 8.200 (G RX Di2 RX825 2x12s)
